Australia University
Advantages of the intake of international students to Australian Universities - The familiar face of the Australian University system is experiencing some big changes. Although criticisms of some emerging patterns have been put forward, it is undeniable that many of the changes have enormous benefits for the University atmosphere of diversity, shared experience and cultural curiosity.
For instance, the growing intake of international students in the Australian tertiary system is one that has revived many campuses with the buzz of a new international community, bringing opportunities to share cultural practices and embrace the global move towards a shared educational experience.
This favour can indeed be returned, with a large number of international Universities offering exchange positions for many Australian students who desire to experience life and education in a foreign country.
The University of Newcastle in NSW is one such location where the benefits of internationalization are evident. Former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Barney Glover championed partnerships with many international Universities, notably several in China.
Although Professor Glover has recently taken up the position of Vice-Chancellor of the Charles Darwin University, his innovation at the Newcastle University will be felt for years to come. The decision to embrace the international education market has essentially revived the face of the Newcastle University and boosted its reputation worldwide, creating a solid foundation for future growth.
